Aidan Froa: Capturing Moments, Serving Others, Leading by Example

When Aidan Froa started as a freshman at Jack Britt High School, he didn’t know anyone at the school. At times, he struggled with confidence and comparison but quickly realized that everyone’s path is different. Four years later, he was elected Student Body President.

Aidan made a point to get involved while in high school. In addition to serving on the Student Government Association, Aidan is also a member of the National Honor Society, Key Club, DECA and Film and Photography Club.

“The accomplishment I have been most proud of was being elected Student Body President,” Aidan said. “It took four years of relationship building and social effort to be elected as president. Having not known anybody my freshman year to being the head of Student Body is something I couldn’t have even imagined when coming into high school.”

Aidan is head manager for both Jack Britt’s Men’s and Women's Soccer teams. When he is not in school, he pursues his passion as an amateur photographer and videographer. In fact, he makes sure to encourage underclassmen to capture their memories with photos and videos. He also volunteers his time twice a week to sing in his church’s choir. Aidan has racked up 400 volunteer hours while in high school.

After high school, Aidan plans to go to North Carolina State University to obtain a bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering. Aidan comes from a family of engineers—his sister, aunt and uncle are all in different engineering fields—and he is looking forward to continuing the tradition.

“What truly sets Aidan apart is the way he contributes to the culture of our school,” said Gretchen Walker, lead counselor at Jack Britt. “He is known as someone who uplifts those around him, leads by example and takes pride in being involved. Academically, Aidan is an outstanding scholar who continually challenges himself in well-rounded and thoughtful ways. He does not shy away from difficulty; instead, he embraces it with enthusiasm, determination and a genuine smile.”

Aidan is leaving high school with fond memories. He made the most of his high school years, having fun while also recognizing the need to use this time to find himself. He will move on with gratitude for the teachers, friends and school leaders who have crossed his path.

“A person who has had a lasting impression on me would be my AP Government teacher, Coach Malloy,” Aidan said. “He is one of the ‘realest’ guys I know. On top of his great teaching ability of the curriculum, he also taught me a lot about the real world through personal stories. He taught me that no matter how bad life gets, it'll always become better.”

Those who know Aidan well, know he will succeed wherever he goes. He is the type of person who is always lifting others up, happy to help where needed and always willing to do what needs to be done.

“Aidan is the type of student who makes a community stronger simply by being part of it,” Walker said. “I am more than honored to recommend him and am confident he will bring the same energy, leadership and integrity to any opportunity he pursues.”
