This is Cumberland County Schools (CCS) with your ‘Need to Know’ Update on November 1, 2026. Here’s what families need to know this week:
Planning for a Bright Future: CCS Exceptional Children's Transition Fair
CCS Exceptional Children's Services is sponsoring a Transition Fair on Thursday, November 5, from 4:30-7:00 p.m. in the Tony Rand Student Center on the campus of Fayetteville Technical Community College. Explore educational opportunities, career pathways and valuable community resources to help students plan for a bright future. Attend the Fair, discover the possibilities and take the next step toward success!
Cumberland Community Foundation Scholarships
Attention families of high school seniors: The FAFSA is now open! Completing your FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) is the first step toward accessing financial aid for college. Also, starting November 2, college scholarship applications are available to high school seniors for the Robert H. Short Scholars Scholarship Program of Cumberland Community Foundation. Visit www.cumberlandcf.org and click on “Scholarships” for instructions and access to the online application.
Explore School Options at the CCS Choice Fair
CCS invites students and families to discover where their interests could lead at the 2026 Choice Fair on Saturday, November 14, from 9 a.m. to noon at South View High School, located at 4184 Elk Road in Hope Mills. Families can meet school representatives, explore programs for the 2027–28 school year and ask questions about finding the right fit for their children. From languages and the arts to technology and health sciences, CCS offers opportunities to connect students’ interests with their future goals. To learn more, visit the CCS Choice website.
Upcoming Schedule Reminders for CCS Families
Tuesday, November 3, the school district is observing a student holiday and staff workday.
