FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – Cumberland County Schools (CCS) invites students and families to discover where their interests could lead at the 2026 Choice Fair on Saturday, November 14, from 9 a.m. to noon at South View High School, 4184 Elk Road in Hope Mills.
Families can meet school representatives, explore programs for the 2027–28 school year and ask questions about finding the right fit for their children. From languages and the arts to technology and health sciences, CCS offers opportunities to connect students’ interests with their future goals.
“We want every student to see possibilities for their future and have opportunities to pursue them,” said Dr. Lavette Braswell, CCS Assistant Superintendent for 6-12 Curriculum & Instruction. “Through engaging programs, dedicated educators and strong community partnerships, we can help students discover their strengths and prepare for what comes next. We invite families to join us at the Choice Fair and explore what is possible for their children.”

Anticipated additions include Cumberland Health Sciences Early College High School, planned on the campus of Methodist University. Through this partnership, students would explore health sciences while preparing for college and future careers. The school is expected to welcome its first ninth-grade class in fall 2027.
Other highlights include new dual-language opportunities and a hospitality and tourism pathway at Terry Sanford High School. Cumberland International Early College High School will also become Cumberland Early College for Science and Technology, reflecting its updated focus.
Families can also explore a wide variety of programs across the district, including:
Languages and global learning: Spanish and Mandarin Chinese immersion, global studies and International Baccalaureate programs.
Arts and classical studies: Arts and academics at Mary McArthur Elementary School, the School of Arts at Seventy-First High School and classical studies options.
College and career pathways: Early college opportunities, Cumberland Polytechnic High School and academies focused on engineering, information technology, finance, health sciences and fire services.
Flexible learning options: Virtual learning and year-round schedules.
These are just a few of the options available, with many more programs to explore at the fair. Families can learn what makes each program unique and how it connects with their child’s interests and goals.
