Cruiser stops, virtual workshops and other opportunities make it easier for families to connect
FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — The Family and Community Engagement Cruiser is coming to local neighborhoods, bringing helpful resources and face-to-face support to help students succeed. It’s one of several ways Cumberland County Schools (CCS) families can connect through Cumberland Family Academy (CFA) this school year.
With free workshops, community events and online resources, CFA helps parents and caregivers support learning, navigate school resources and prepare for their children’s next steps. The initiative brings families, school staff and community partners together with a shared focus on student success.
Whether families prefer to visit the Cruiser, join a session during lunch or connect from home, the 2026-27 schedule offers options for different interests. Upcoming opportunities include:
Learning over lunch: A virtual Lunch and Learn on Oct. 21 from noon to 1 p.m. will introduce families to Family Ambassadors and resources that support student success.
A neighborhood Cruiser stop: Families can visit Westover Recreation Center, 267 Bonanza Drive in Fayetteville, on Oct. 22 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. for college financial aid information, Infinite Campus assistance and other resources.
Connecting with other parents: A Be Strong Families Parent Café on Nov. 13 from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Pre-K Center will offer opportunities for parents and caregivers to share experiences and learn together.
For families who need more flexibility, Family Engagement On Demand provides learning videos and archived sessions accessible from a phone, tablet or computer. Parents and caregivers can explore guidance at a time that works for them.
These offerings are just a sampling of what’s ahead. Families are encouraged to view the full Cumberland Family Academy schedule for additional topics, locations and participation details.

About Cumberland Family Academy
Cumberland Family Academy (CFA) provides free workshops and educational events for the families of Cumberland County Schools (CCS). As part of its strategic plan, CCS launched CFA during the 2020-21 school year. Research shows that students achieve more when families are involved in their education. The purpose of the CFA program is to provide families with tools to support the success of their children’s education and to bring schools, parents/guardians, families and community organizations together as equal partners.
