FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – Family Ambassadors are preparing to help families feel more informed, connected and supported across Cumberland County Schools (CCS).
The group of dedicated volunteers recently gathered for the 2026-27 Family Ambassador Symposium, where they learned, collaborated and prepared to serve their school communities throughout the year.
Led by CCS’ Communications and Community Engagement Department, the Family Ambassador Program builds stronger connections among families, schools and the district. The program supports the Committed Community pillar of the district’s Strategic Plan and contributes to CCS’ North Star of becoming the highest-performing school district in North Carolina.
“Family Ambassadors will help ensure families feel informed, supported and connected to their schools,” said Dr. Lindsay A. Whitley, associate superintendent for Communications and Community Engagement. “They will listen, share helpful information and work alongside school and district leaders to identify meaningful ways for families to support student success.”
The process is simple: Family Ambassadors learn from district leaders, share information within their school communities, listen to families and bring their feedback forward. The cycle continues as new topics, resources and family needs emerge.
This year, Family Ambassadors will share information about academic support, attendance, student well-being, school safety, parent portals and opportunities for families to become involved.
Over the next month, Family Ambassadors will introduce themselves to their school communities and determine how they can best support local families.
