RESCHEDULED Back-To-School Community Impact Event

On Saturday, September 19, Balm in Gilead Family Counseling Ministries, in partnership with Cumberland County Schools, will host a Back-to-School Community Impact Event from 10 a.m. to noon at Gray’s Creek High School. The community event will provide families with a variety of helpful resources, including free school supplies, clothing, shoes, groceries and household goods ... while supplies last.

Calendar update: Early release on September 22

Tuesday, September 22, is a two-hour early release day for traditional calendar students. This date was unintentionally omitted from the yellow printed calendar shared with families.  Visit the district website for the most up-to-date school calendars.

LOOKING AHEAD:  Fort Bragg Military Academies Fair

High school students and their families are invited to attend Fort Bragg Child and Youth Services’ 19th Annual Military Academies Fair on Monday, September 28, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Soldier Family Readiness Group Center, located in Building 236 on Interceptor Street on Fort Bragg. Meet representatives from U.S. service academies, military colleges and ROTC programs, and learn more about admissions, preparation and opportunities available to students. The event is free and open to the public, and you do not have to be military-connected to attend. For more information, call 910.366.4730.

REMINDER -- CCS Excellence: Family Support Request Form

CCS has launched the new CCS Excellence: Family Support Request Form to make it easier for families to know where to turn when they have a question or concern. Families are encouraged to begin with the teacher, school staff member, administrator or district department closest to the situation. The people most familiar with the matter are often best able to listen, respond and work with the family toward a resolution.

If additional assistance is needed, families can complete the Family Support Request Form. Someone from the district office will typically follow up within one to two business days to connect the family with the appropriate school or department and help work toward a resolution.
