Mac Williams Middle School’s Estelle Vorreyer recognized for her innovation, dedication and commitment to student learning

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – Cumberland County Schools (CCS) announced Estelle Vorreyer, media coordinator at Mac Williams Middle School, as the 2026-27 CCS Media Coordinator of the Year on Aug. 13. Vorreyer celebrated the honor alongside her principal and close family members.

“Ms. Vorreyer exemplifies ‘quiet excellence,’” said Pamela Sands, CCS Media Services coordinator. “Reserved and rarely one to seek the spotlight, she has made a significant impact through her creativity, dedication and steadfast commitment to ensuring that her media center is a welcoming learning commons where students feel supported.”

Vorreyer encourages students to read, explore, create, think critically and become responsible consumers of information and technology. Her media program includes interactive reading promotions, immersive book displays and digital literacy lessons that challenge students to evaluate sources, identify misinformation and create with technology.

Her influence also extends to the teachers she serves. Drawing on 20 years of classroom teaching experience before becoming a media coordinator, Vorreyer provides practical professional learning and works to position the media center as a strategic instructional partner for educators.

“She continually finds engaging ways to connect students with reading, information and learning,” Sands said. “We congratulate Estelle Vorreyer on being named the 2026-27 Cumberland County Schools Media Coordinator of the Year and celebrate the quiet excellence, innovation and heart she brings to her school community each day.”
