Cumberland County Schools (CCS) welcomed more than 200 beginning and international teachers ahead of the 2026-27 school year through New Teacher Orientation and professional learning sessions held during the first two weeks of August.

Throughout the two-week experience, the district’s newest educators participated in sessions designed to support a successful transition into CCS. Teachers received practical instructional strategies, explored essential district tools and resources and gained a deeper understanding of their day-to-day responsibilities.

The educators also participated in collaborative discussions and professional learning focused on effective classroom management, instructional practices and strategies to support student achievement. These opportunities provided them with the knowledge, resources and professional connections needed to enter their classrooms with confidence.

Now that the school year is underway, CCS’ newest teachers are putting that preparation into practice. With continued support from the New Teacher Support Team, they are ready to make a meaningful difference in the lives of students and contribute to the district’s commitment to excellence.
