It’s back to school for thousands of Cumberland County Schools (CCS) students who follow the Traditional calendar, and the excitement was evident as students returned to classrooms today for the start of a new school year!

At William T. Brown Elementary School, community partners and members of several Divine Nine (D9) organizations joined CCS Superintendent Dr. Eric C. Bracy in welcoming bus- and car-riding students as they arrived on campus. With smiles, cheers and words of encouragement, the special guests helped create an energetic and welcoming start to the first day.

"The first day of school is always special," said Dr. Bracy. "It represents a fresh start, a renewed commitment and another opportunity to make a meaningful difference for students and families across the district."

Inside the school, faculty and staff were abuzz as students and parents made their way through the halls, located classrooms and connected with teachers and staff. From first-day greetings to new beginnings, the morning was filled with excitement and anticipation for the year ahead.

Across the district, CCS educators and staff were ready to welcome students back, support their success and make the 2026-2027 school year another year of CCS Excellence.
