This morning, Cumberland County Schools (CCS) applauded nearly 50 students who earned their high school diplomas during the district's 2026 Summer Graduation Ceremony, marking an important milestone in their journey toward college, careers and life beyond the classroom.

Faculty, staff, family members and friends joined graduates from 10 CCS high schools in the auditorium at Jack Britt High School (JBHS) to recognize the students' hard work, resilience and perseverance. The ceremony honored their determination to overcome challenges and achieve this significant accomplishment.

This year's commencement speaker, Bailey John Fields, a Jack Britt High School graduate and internationally respected professional athlete, challenged the graduates to pursue their goals with confidence, determination and resilience, reminding them that their future is theirs to build.

"As you walk out into the world today, wear this accomplishment like armor," Fields said. "Let it be the firm foundation for every risk you take, every job you apply for, every trade you master, every degree you pursue and every dream you chase. Be bold in your goals, be relentless in your work ethic, and never, ever surrender that will to fight for what is rightfully yours. The future isn't just something that happens to you. It is something you build. As of today, you have proven that you have the exact tools needed to build something extraordinary. The future is wide open, and it belongs entirely to those who refuse to give up. Now, go out there and show the world what you are made of!"
