To help ensure all students feel welcome as they start a new school, Cumberland County Schools (CCS) launched the first-ever Student 2 Student (S2S) Welcome Video Contest.
All S2S clubs across CCS were tasked with creating a short, student-led welcome video that helps new students feel connected, supported and valued at their school. The videos reflect school spirit, belonging and the positive culture that defines each campus.
Results are in, and Westover High School came in first place, with Massey Hill Classical School coming in second and Cumberland Academy Virtual 6-12 coming in third.

Not only did Westover receive districtwide recognition, but they will also have premiere placement on the CCS website, promotion across official social media platforms and a $500 prize to support a team activity for S2S club members.
The S2S programs train civilian and military-connected middle and high school students to establish and sustain peer-based programs in their schools to support mobile children as they transition to and from school.
About S2S:
Most military-connected students move six to nine times during their school years. Feeling like the perpetual “new kid” can be stressful – just finding someone to eat lunch with can make a difference. The MCEC Student 2 Student (S2S) and Junior Student 2 Student programs train civilian and military-connected middle and high school students to establish and sustain peer-based programs in their schools to support mobile children as they transition to and from school.
