Shamar Wilson, an 11th-grade student at E.E. Smith High School, was selected as a delegate to the 2026 Congress of Future Medical Leaders, an honors-only program for outstanding high school students aspiring to become physicians or pursue careers in medical research fields.
Chosen for his academic achievement, leadership potential and commitment to serving others, Shamar earned this national recognition through a nomination signed by Nobel Prize-winning physician and scientist Dr. Mario Capecchi.
From June 24-26 at the University of Massachusetts Lowell outside of Boston, MA, during the congress, Shamar joined top students from across the nation to learn from Nobel Laureates, National Medal of Science recipients, leading physicians and medical school experts. The experience provided valuable insight into medical careers, groundbreaking research and emerging technologies while connecting students with mentorship and resources designed to help them pursue future careers in medicine and medical science.
