Cumberland County Schools’ (CCS) Child Nutrition Services has received two grant awards totaling $20,064 to support the district’s Summer Meals Program.
The grants include $19,064 from the Dr. and Mrs. Kurt Sachs Fund for Children, Dr. Richard S. Kelly Jr. Memorial Fund and Ervin and Helga Baer Family Fund of Cumberland Community Foundation, Inc., and $1,000 from the Will Dickey Endowment to Provide Summertime Meals for Hungry Children of Cumberland Community Foundation, Inc.
The funds will be used to purchase equipment and supplies that exceed U.S. Department of Agriculture reimbursement, helping CCS enhance the Summer Meals Program for children in the community.
“We are grateful for these grant awards and the continued support of Cumberland Community Foundation, Inc.,” said C. Beth Maynard, executive director of Child Nutrition Services. “These funds will help us strengthen the Summer Meals Program and better serve children in our community.”
CCS’ Summer Meals Program provides meals to children during the summer months, helping ensure continued access to nutritious meals when school is out.
