Cumberland County Schools (CCS) honored the dedication and impact of its Family Ambassadors during the district’s Family Ambassadors End-of-Year Celebration held on Thursday, May 21, 2026, at the Dr. William “Bill” Harrison Educational Resource Center.
Approximately 60 Family Ambassadors and their guests joined school principals and district administrators for the special event, which celebrated a year of strengthening connections among families, schools and community resources in support of student success.
Throughout the evening, district leaders expressed appreciation for Family Ambassadors’ commitment to fostering positive relationships with families while helping parents and caregivers better understand educational opportunities, district resources and support services available across the community.
The Family Ambassador Program plays a vital role in encouraging family engagement across CCS schools by empowering parents and caregivers to serve as advocates, communicators and connectors. Family Ambassadors work closely with school staff and district leaders to help families stay informed, engaged and connected throughout the school year.
Through monthly meetings with the Communications and Community Engagement team, Family Ambassadors receive timely updates, training and information from district leaders on topics families need to know, including academics, attendance, safety, student support, mental health and opportunities for students. Family Ambassadors then identify creative ways to share that information in practical, accessible and meaningful ways.
While Family Ambassadors support principals and school teams with school-based engagement efforts, their impact extends beyond the four walls of the school. Across the district, Family Ambassadors have reached families in community spaces, neighborhoods, churches, events and online platforms, creating additional pathways for families to ask questions, access support and engage in their children’s education.
The celebration highlighted the collective impact Family Ambassadors have made by closing communication gaps, increasing awareness of district resources and strengthening school-home-community partnerships. Their work reflects CCS’ belief that when families are informed, engaged and equipped, students are better supported academically, socially and emotionally.
CCS administrators thanked Family Ambassadors for their continued leadership, dedication and service to students, families and school communities across the district.
