Cumberland County Schools (CCS) welcomed hundreds of students, families and community members to the 4th Annual Children’s Mental Health & Wellness Fair, “Stepping into Wellness: It’s OK 2 Ask!,” on May 2 at Festival Park. The annual event focused on promoting mental wellness, healthy lifestyles and community connection while providing families with access to local support services and organizations.
Organized by the CCS Student Services Department during Children’s Mental Health Awareness Week, the free event featured a one-mile Walk for Suicide Prevention, with Westover High School recognized for having the most walkers. The fair also included yoga on the lawn, community booths, student poetry performances presented by Lost Voices Empire, games, giveaways, food trucks, a video gaming truck and Cumberland County School's Family Engagement Cruiser. Attendees also enjoyed music and entertainment from DJ Dillon Jam, the 2025 CTL DJ Battle Champion, performances by the Walker-Spivey Elementary School Step Team along with poetry showcases featuring elementary, middle and high school students.
The Children’s Mental Health & Wellness Fair continues to serve as a platform for increasing awareness surrounding children’s mental health while encouraging open conversations, resilience and support for students and families across Cumberland County.
Inspired by the continued growth and community participation in the event, organizers look forward to expanding future fairs to reach even more students and families throughout the district.
