As part of its Countdown to Kindergarten 2026 initiative, Cumberland County Schools (CCS) will host district-wide kindergarten orientation events in April to welcome rising kindergarten students and their families and help prepare them for the start of the 2026-2027 school year.

Elementary schools across the district will host orientation events on one of the following dates: Thursday, April 16; Tuesday, April 21; Thursday, April 23; or Tuesday, April 28, between 4:30 and 7 p.m. Families will have the opportunity to complete the registration process, meet teachers, participate in classroom and school tours and learn more about school procedures and expectations.

To enroll in kindergarten, children must be five years old on or before Aug. 31, 2026. Online registration will open Monday, April 13.

Families registering a student for kindergarten will need to provide the following documentation:

  • Certified birth certificate

  • Record of immunizations

  • Health assessment

  • Current proof of residency within the attendance area of the enrolling school
