HL 03.13.26 Jones

The Cumberland County Board of Education approved the appointment of Brian A. Jones as the executive director of Student Assignment and Information Systems during its regular monthly meeting on Tuesday, March 10, following the recommendation of Superintendent Dr. Eric C. Bracy.

Jones currently serves Johnston County Public Schools (JCPS) as the executive director of Student Assignment and Information Systems, where he oversees key district operations related to student enrollment, student data systems and compliance reporting.

Over the course of his 18-year career with JCPS, Jones has served in several other roles supporting student information systems and district operations, including director of Student Enrollment and Information Systems and K-12 PowerSchool coordinator. He also served as project manager during the district’s implementation of the Infinite Campus student information system, led training and support for administrators and staff, managed third-party integrations and vendor correspondence, and presented at state and district conferences. In 2023, Jones was recognized as JCPS’ Administrative/Auxiliary Services Employee of the Year.

Jones attended Johnston Community College's Associate of Arts Transfer Program and also earned his IPT certification through PowerSchool in Gradebook and Reporting.

In his new role with Cumberland County Schools (CCS), Jones will lead the Student Assignment and Information Systems department, overseeing student assignment planning, the district’s student information system, and the accuracy, security and reporting of student data to support school operations and district decision-making.
