The Cumberland County Board of Education approved the appointment of Katelyn Lovette as the new principal of Brentwood Elementary School during its regular meeting this evening, based on the recommendation of Cumberland County Schools (CCS) Superintendent Dr. Eric C. Bracy.
Lovette began her career in education in 2014 as a teacher at Rockfish Elementary School.
She currently serves as the assistant principal at Sunnyside Elementary School, where she supports teaching and learning, school operations and continuous improvement efforts. In September 2025, Lovette was named CCS’ 2026 Assistant Principal of the Year.
Lovette holds a Master of School Administration from the University of North Carolina at Pembroke and a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Averett University.
