12.05.25 Family Ambassador Event

Families, staff and community members gathered at Stoney Point Recreation Center for Keeping Our Schools Safe: A Community Conversation, an informative evening focused on how Cumberland County Schools supports safe, welcoming learning environments each day.
This event was organized by the Attendance Area 3 Family Ambassadors serving the Jack Britt area. A special thank you to Jacquelyn Washington, Attendance Area 3 Lead Family Ambassador, and our Area 3 Ambassadors: Delia Diegue, Christiane Meaney, Anastasia Rubin and Katie Kempner. Their leadership helped create a welcoming space where families could connect, ask questions and strengthen school-home partnerships.

The evening featured two key presentations:

  • Kevin Coleman, associate superintendent of Auxiliary Services, shared a high-level overview of district safety and security practices, emphasizing the daily coordination and systems in place to support safe school operations.

  • Dr. Melody Chalmers McClain, associate superintendent of Student Support Services, highlighted student expectations and the Student Code of Conduct, along with mental health and social-emotional supports available to help students thrive.

The program concluded with an open forum, giving attendees an opportunity to engage in meaningful dialogue and learn more about how families and schools can work together to support student success.
