Cumberland County Schools is thrilled to announce that its 2026 Principal of the Year, Dr. Latreicia Allen at John Griffin Middle School, has been named the 2026 Sandhills Regional Principal of the Year!
The exciting surprise unfolded this morning when Dr. Allen stepped into her school’s gymnasium, completely unaware that a crowd of cheering school and district leaders, representatives from the N.C. Department of Public Instruction, teachers, staff and students were gathered to celebrate her remarkable achievement.
Adding to the moment, Jason Johnson, the reigning NC Principal of the Year from Orange County Schools, delivered the formal announcement and shared his well-wishes. Dr. Allen will now advance to represent the Sandhills region as she vies for the 2026 Wells Fargo North Carolina Principal of the Year title.
