Terry Plummer is the recipient of the Committed Community Support Award, recognizing his devoted service and support of the Walker-Spivey Elementary School families.
Extra Mile Award Recipient Dadma Consalvi
The Extra Mile Award honors employees who consistently exceed expectations, demonstrating outstanding performance and inspiring others to strive for excellence.
November’s recipient, Dadma Consalvi, was selected for exemplifying CCS' Core Value of Collaboration during outreach at the International Folk Festival.
She went 'above and beyond' by staying six extra hours to assist a new colleague, generously sharing her tent, tables and chairs to make setup easier. Friendly, resourceful and dedicated, Consalvi also engaged visitors and ensured the event ran smoothly, embodying what it means to be a 'true team player.' “Dadma’s support truly highlights the strength of a premier professional grounded in successful collaboration within Cumberland County Schools,” said Marlo Mercer, Facilitator of NCWorks NextGen–High School to Work, who nominated her for the award.
Committed Community Support Award Recipient Terry Plummer
The Committed Community Support Award honors individuals or groups for their steadfast dedication and generous contributions to the school system.
November’s recipient, Terry Plummer, exemplifies the spirit of service through his extensive volunteer work with First Presbyterian Church’s local mission outreach. He has partnered closely with Walker-Spivey Elementary School and served on the board of Connections of Cumberland County, supporting homeless and at-risk children across the community. Under his leadership, the church’s Snack Kit Ministry has expanded to include summer food boxes for families, Easter baskets for students and Thanksgiving meals for Walker-Spivey families in need.
Plummer’s community impact extends far beyond the school walls. He has served as Board Chair with Operation Inasmuch, counseling homeless men at the Lodge and leading volunteer cleanup efforts in the B-Street community following Hurricanes Matthew and Florence. After Hurricane Helene, he coordinated a countywide drive to collect and ship disaster relief items to Western Carolina.
Walker-Spivey Elementary School Social Worker Rebecca Carthens, who nominated Plummer, spoke about the reason behind his service. "At the core of all his efforts is a simple, powerful goal: To give Walker-Spivey Elementary scholars every opportunity to thrive and rise above today’s challenges."
