#TBT -- Alongside App
On Throwback Thursday (#TBT), May 22 from 6-7 p.m., hear from  CCS Executive Director of Student Services Dr. Natasha Scott, who will be discussing the Alongside app and its support for student mental health in grades 6-12. Tune in for this #TBT on the district's Facebook page.

UPDATED DATE -- Extended Deadline: Apply Now for Select Choice Programs  
The Choice Program application window has been extended for select schools and is open through Friday, May 30 rather than Tuesday, May 20, as previously shared. Families may apply for Cumberland Virtual Academy for Grades 1-5, Cumberland Virtual Academy for Grades 6-12 and Reid Ross Classical High School for Grades 9-12. Drop-in Community Retirement Celebration for Dr. Connelly
Attention: CCS families and staff! Superintendent Dr. Marvin Connelly, Jr., is preparing for retirement at the end of this school year. Please join us for a community drop-in celebration to honor his incredible contributions to CCS. The event will be held on Thursday, May 22 from 3 until 6 p.m. at the Bill Harrison Educational Resource Center, located at 396 Elementary Drive in Fayetteville (28301). We hope to see you there to wish Dr. Connelly well as he enters this next chapter of his life! 

CCS Arts Education Department Offers Two Summer Music Camps
Cumberland County Schools’ (CCS) Arts Education Department is offering two summer music opportunities for student musicians. Both camps are open to CCS students at a cost of $25 per participant.

Summer Middle School Band Camp will be held June 9–12, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at John Griffin Middle School. The camp is open to students in grades 6–8.

Summer Orchestra Camp will be held June 9–12 and June 16–18, from 9 a.m. to noon at Seventy-First High School. The camp is open to students in grades 5–12.

In-person registration for families who are unable to register online will be offered on May 15 and May 22 from 3 to 5 p.m. at CCS Central Services, 2465 Gillespie Street, Fayetteville, NC 28306. For more information, contact the CCS Arts Education Department at 910-678-2622.

Registration for both camps closes on May 23, 2025.

Last Day for Traditional School Students with 2-Hour Early Release

The last day of school for students who follow the Traditional Calendar is Friday, May 23. Students will be released two hours early.

Este próximoThrowback Thursday (#TBT) el 22 de mayo de 6:00 a 7:00 p.m., escucharás a la Dra. Natasha Scott, Directora Ejecutiva de Servicios Estudiantiles de CCS. Ella hablará sobre la aplicación Alongside y su apoyo a la salud mental de los estudiantes de los grados 6 al 12 en la página de Facebook del distrito.

Ven y ayudanos a rendirle  homenaje al Dr. Connelly y desearle lo mejor en su jubilación.

Un recordatorio breve... la fecha límite para inscribirse en los dos campamentos  de verano de música de las Escuelas del Condado de Cumberland para estudiantes músicos es el viernes, 23 de mayo. Se ofrecerá un Campamento de Banda para Escuela Intermedia (Grados 6–8) y un Campamento de Orquesta (Grados 5–12). Los campamentos se realizarán del 9 al 12 de junio, y el Campamento de Orquesta también se reunirá del 16 al 18 de junio. El costo es de $25 por estudiante. Finalmente, el último día de classes para los estudiantes que siguen el Calendario Tradicional es el viernes, 23 de mayo. Los estudiantes saldrán dos horas antes del horario habitual.
