Bio

My name is Lucy Wilkerson. I am originally from Kansas City, Missouri. I am married with two children. I completed 21 years of Active Duty service in the US Army. I recently retired and decided to spend my down time assisting the schools in my area. I am also a substitute teacher. I am a part of the PTA for my children's schools. During my down time, I enjoy doing DIY projects around the house.

What inspired you to become a Family Ambassador?

The thought of bringing the community, family and schools together is what inspired me. I believe that there is a gap in communication between the three and if there is anything that I can do to help bridge that gap, I'd like to do as much as I could to make that happen.

What are you most excited about in this role?

Being able to work alongside other people with the same goals.

Fun Facts - Share a fun or surprising fact about yourself

I’m a retired Army veteran who loves planning events and bringing people together. I’ve worn many hats in life, Soldier, mom, grandmother, mentor and I enjoy every one of them. I can turn almost any idea into an organized plan or event. I’m known for being dependable and always showing up when people need support.

What's one thing you love about being involved with your school community?

I love being able to support families, build connections, and help create a positive and welcoming environment for students.
