Family Ambassador: Seventy-First High

Meet Seventy-First High's Family Ambassador!
Bio:
I am a father before anything else, and that role shapes the way I show up in my community. Beyond that, I am a community leader, poet, and educator who is passionate about mental health, youth empowerment, and using the arts as a tool for growth. I direct Lost Voices Empire, an organization dedicated to providing access to creative expression and community connection. Outside of my work, I enjoy writing, hosting community events, and spending quality time with my family.
What inspired you to become a Family Ambassador?
I believe schools thrive when families feel connected and supported. As someone who works closely with youth and parents, I wanted to help bridge the gap between families and the district by ensuring their voices are heard and their needs are met.
What are you most excited about in this role?
I’m most excited about building stronger relationships with families, sharing resources, and creating spaces where parents feel welcome and empowered to participate in their children’s education.
Fun Facts - Share a fun or surprising fact about yourself
My love for the arts began as a child. I was first a published artist in elementary school, long before I ever became a poet. Today, I’m blessed to be a successful poet, but creativity has always been a part of who I am. Outside of writing and performing, I also really enjoy cooking and experimenting with new recipes.
What's one thing you love about being involved with your school community?
I love seeing how collaboration between families, staff, and students creates a sense of belonging and helps young people succeed not just academically, but socially and emotionally as well.
