I also have a son who is a current Cumberland county virtual 2nd grader. I have a 18 year background in serving on numerous volunteer positions in the educational field, from family Ambassador, private school art teacher, after school program facilitator, children's church instructor and several other positions. My hobbies include traveling and making resin art and jewelry. I am a licensed NC real estate agent who helps families buy and sale homes.
What inspired you to become a Family Ambassador?
I started working with the school system serving on a board similar to the family Ambassador role 18 years ago with the head start program. At that time I had my then toddler daughter enrolled in the program and I grew a passion for being involved in not only her educational experience but the experience of all of the fellow parents and their families. That passion has grown and followed my own family and community so I try to serve and be as hands on in the building of all students and families educational resources and activities.
What are you most excited about in this role?
I'm most excited to connect families and teachers with ways to help betters support all students. Also to help gather information about different resources that are available to families and make sure that families understand that they are available.
Fun Facts - Share a fun or surprising fact about yourself
A surprising fact that I'd like to share is that along with me having a passion to help students and families in education. I also serve as a NC Realtor and a Professional travel agent/consultant. Who specializes in 1st time home buyers and family vacations.
What's one thing you love about being involved with your school community?
I love and appreciate being involved with outreach and the support team of Cumberland virtual academy community, it allows parents and students to have a direct connection to all the latest information surrounding whats happening in and around our school making it easier to navigate some of the difficulties that may arise in day-to-day situations and activities.
