Meet William H. Owen Elementary's Family Ambassador!

Name: Onyx Atkins

Bio:
My name is Mrs. Atkins, and I am proud to be a wife, mother, and bonus mom to seven wonderful children. Family is at the heart of everything I do, and being actively engaged in each stage of my children’s growth and development is a responsibility I hold dearly. I strongly believe that a child’s education and upbringing serve as the foundation for their future, and I work closely with the school system to ensure that each of my children—who all learn in unique and individual ways—receives the guidance, support, and encouragement they need to thrive both inside and outside of the home.

Beyond my role as a mother, I have cultivated a deep passion and professional calling in the field of postpartum care. As a Postpartum Doula, Placenta Encapsulation Specialist, and Postpartum Support Advocate, I am dedicated to helping mothers navigate the critical transition into parenthood with confidence, healing, and grace. My mission is to ensure that women feel supported, empowered, and equipped to embrace postpartum recovery beautifully.

My combined experiences as a mother, advocate, and professional caregiver have allowed me to merge personal passion with purposeful work, ultimately creating a meaningful impact in the lives of both families and communities.

What inspired you to become a Family Ambassador?

Throughout my own experiences as a parent and in my work supporting children and communities, I’ve seen how important it is for families to feel connected, supported, and empowered. When families have strong partnerships with schools, children thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

What are you most excited about in this role?

I want to be a bridge between families and schools—helping parents feel confident navigating resources, advocating for their children, and becoming active participants in their child’s education.
