Admission Requirements 

General Information

All students interested in applying to the Academy of Global Studies at Terry Sanford High School must complete an application. However, students living outside the Terry Sanford district must submit a CCS Choice Program application. Both students who live in-district and students who live out-of-district must include the following information in their application:

  • Most recent ELA/Math test scores

  • Most recent report card

  • Two completed essays in response to the prompts in the application (Students are encouraged to express their own voice in their responses.)

For Students residing OUT-OF-DISTRICT:

Students who live outside the Terry Sanford High School district must apply through the CCS School of Choice program. Click HERE to access more information. Students from all attendance areas may apply. The School of Global Studies does not discriminate against students based on sex, race, religion, or national origin. 

While the program primarily targets incoming 9th graders, applications from incoming 10th graders who have demonstrated academic excellence at the high school level will also be considered. New 11th or 12th-grade students will not be admitted into the program.

Applications for the 2026-2027 school year must be submitted electronically by Friday, January 9, 2026, for all out-of-district students. All required documentation must be included with the application; failure to do so will result in the application being discarded.

For Students residing IN-DISTRICT:

The application window for students residing in the Terry Sanford district will open on Monday, November 17, 2025. All applications for in-district students must be submitted by Friday, January 9, 2026. The annual program fee of $125 will be due when students are notified of their acceptance.  (A form requesting a fee waiver is available.) Click Here for the in-district application.
