Dr. Backman and Westarea staff along with some of The Links Incorporated members promoted the importance of reading and literacy by celebrating Read Across America virtually this year. Westarea students always look forward to this annual event. The excitement and the exposure to new books help our teachers and staff to further emphasize the importance of being able to read well. Volunteer readers from The Links Incorporated and other organizations took time out of their busy schedules to log in and read to our students. The volunteer readers also shared how the ability to read and imagine has positively impacted their own lives. Several volunteer readers shared videos of themselves reading popular picture books. Read Across America was a huge success.
