A unique experience I’ve had being a military dependent is being able to go to Father-Daughter retreats that had a variety of activities for my Dad and I to take part in and bond over.
Growing up as a military child I had to move around about every three years and it was hard for me to find stability whether it was with schools or friends; I’m grateful that I had a nice family that filled in for that stability I couldn’t get at schools.
My family and I have been stationed in North Carolina longer than any of the other states we’ve lived in. Being a military child has impacted the way that I live my life. I take my relationships, whether they’re with friends or family, very seriously because I wasn’t able to keep in contact with the friends I had in my childhood.
