Families Have the Power of Choice

Whether a child is a budding artist or interested in a career in the engineering field, Cumberland County Schools (CCS) provides numerous options to help align each child's education to their unique interests and learning style.

Cumberland County families will have an opportunity to exercise their power of choice and learn more about the educational options available in CCS on Saturday, December 4, 2021, from 10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. at the CCS Virtual Choice Fair.

During this event, families are invited to virtually explore the Choice Programs available to elementary, middle and high school students. Parents and guardians will be able to access presentations for each school, talk with Choice Program instructors and administrators, and ask questions.

With educational opportunities focused on science, arts and culture, technology, and real-world career experiences, Choice Programs are uniquely themed concepts implemented at select schools throughout the school system. All students have the opportunity to participate in a Choice Program based upon seat availability.

"We know that one size doesn't fit all," said Dr. Mellotta Hill, assistant superintendent of Instructional Programs. "CCS Choice Programs offer a complete education to create well-rounded and successful students based on their interests and how they learn best."

The Choice Program application period for the 2022-2023 school year will begin November 29, 2021, and end January 31, 2022. To learn more about specific programs and access the CCS Choice Program Guide, visit www.choice.ccs.k12.nc.us.
