: Immunization Requirements for 7th grade entry

Hello Parents and/or Guardians!

In addition to school entry immunization requirements, students entering the 7th grade in North Carolina are required to show proof that they have received a dose of Meningococcal Conjugate ACWY vaccine and a dose of Tdap (Tdap= Tetanus/ Diphtheria/ acellular Pertussis) vaccine

The Meningococcal Conjugate ACWY vaccine helps protect against meningitis, bacteremia, and pneumonia caused by the meningococcal bacteria. The Tdap vaccine helps protect against Tetanus, Diphtheria, and Pertussis diseases.

At the beginning of the school year, all 7th graders will need to bring in updated shot records to their homeroom teachers showing that they have received these two vaccinations. According to NC law (General Statute 130A-155) your child will not be allowed to attend school if proof is not presented within the first 30 days of attendance

The Meningococcal Conjugate ACWY, Tdap, and other recommended vaccines (such as the HPV vaccine) may be obtained at your child's regular healthcare provider or at the Cumberland County Department of Public Health. Please consult with your child's provider to know what vaccines are recommended. If you do not have health insurance or if your insurance does not cover immunizations, you may call 910-321-7116 to see if your child is eligible to receive immunizations at no cost to you, and to schedule an appointment at the Cumberland County Department of Public Health located at 1235 Ramsey Street. The Immunization Clinic is located on the first floor. Clinic hours are 8:00am to 4:30pm Monday through Thursday and 8:00am to 12pm Fridays. Please take your child's immunization records to their appointment

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact your child's school. Thank you
