Cumberland Family Academy is Back with More Offerings for Families

When families and educators join forces, amazing things happen in the lives of students. As part of its strategic plan, Cumberland County Schools (CCS) launched Cumberland Family Academy (CFA) during the 2020-21 school year. Since launching CFA, district officials have continued to listen to families to create innovative ways for families to receive information and resources to support their children. 

Throughout the 2022-23 school year, CCS families will have numerous opportunities to connect with the school system and receive critical information and resources to help their children achieve success in the classroom and beyond.

2022-23 CUMBERLAND FAMILY ACADEMY OFFERINGS:

Community Roundtable Discussions: Together, we will rise! Attend these powerful Community Roundtable Discussions, enjoy dinner and provide input on district initiatives that impact CCS students. Bring your ideas and suggestions and prepare to converse with district and school staff, families and other community stakeholders. These collaborative sessions will be hosted at schools and community locations throughout the 2022-23 school year. To help our students succeed, we must continue to work together.

Family Night Series: Join us for relevant, timely sessions for the entire family! The “New” Math, College Access and Social-Emotional Resources for Students are just a few topics that families have asked about. And this year, we plan to deliver! From children’s authors to experts on a variety of topics that will support families, CCS will host in-person sessions at schools throughout the district.

Masterclasses for Today’s Families: Can’t make in-person family engagement sessions? We understand – today’s families are busy! We’ve got something just for you. Don’t miss this year’s line-up of Masterclasses for Today’s Family. This monthly series will stream live on the district’s Facebook page and feature local and national experts on topics of interest to today’s family. This series will air monthly. 

#TBT Cumberland Family Academy Sessions: Do you need a quick refresher on PowerSchool or how to access the Canvas learning management system? No worries - we have family engagement sessions available on demand to support families. Be sure to catch our Throwback Thursday Cumberland Family Academy sessions weekly on Thursdays at 6 p.m.

Coffee Conversations: This monthly video series is available on the district’s Facebook page and YouTube channel to help provide information and resources to parents and caregivers of CCS students. Catch new episodes monthly.

Family Ambassadors: Coming in January 2023, this new initiative will create volunteer positions for one parent or family member at each CCS school to serve as a Family Ambassador. The ambassadors will meet monthly with CCS officials to learn more about what is happening in CCS and will work closely with the school leadership to plan and promote family engagement activities and outreach opportunities that will benefit families throughout the district and receive resources to support their family engagement outreach efforts. Family Ambassadors can receive up to $150.00 monthly for completing certain family engagement tasks.
