Principal Named NCPAPA Elementary Principal of the Year

Another Cumberland County Schools (CCS) premier professional is being recognized for her contributions to the field of education. Suzanne Owen, principal of Cliffdale Elementary School, has been named the 2021 North Carolina Principals and Assistant Principals’ Association (NCPAPA) Elementary Principal of the Year.

“We are very fortunate to have such a hardworking and passionate leader to serve as our Elementary Principal of the Year,” NCPAPA Executive Director Dr. Shirley Prince stated in a letter notifying Owen about the recognition. “We know that you will be an excellent leader for principals throughout North Carolina.”

With nearly 25 years of experience in education, Owen has served as principal of Cliffdale Elementary since 2018. She has worked tirelessly to support teachers and make sure all staff members have access to materials and equipment needed to deliver excellent instruction. Under her leadership, students met growth in all measures and exceeded growth in reading.

"I am extremely humbled and honored to serve NCPAPA as the Elementary School Principal of the Year,” said Owen. “I look forward to working with NCPAPA to advocate for excellence in educational leadership while honoring the hard work of my fellow principals across North Carolina.”

Earlier this school year, Owen was named CCS’ 2021 Principal of the Year and the 2021 Wells Fargo Sandhills Regional Principal of the Year.
