'Need to Know' Updates for the Week of June 6, 2021

Summer is almost here and we want to make sure we keep our children healthy while school is out. Cumberland County Schools' Child Nutrition Services is providing FREE meals to children during the summer. The meals will be served at various locations throughout the county from Monday through Friday, June 7 through July 30. There are no income requirements or registration, and anyone age 18 or younger can receive a free curbside meal. For more information, call 910-678-2502 or visit the CCS website.

During the 2021-2022 school year, Cumberland County Schools (Grades Pre-K through 12th) will operate in-person, five days a week during regular school hours, while following safety protocols and social distancing guidelines based on the most recent guidance from North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services. As such, the virtual learning option will ONLY be offered through the Cumberland [Virtual] Academies to kindergarten through 12th-grade students. Those interested in committing to this Academy for an entire school year are guaranteed a seat through July 9. Families who are interested but are not currently enrolled, should attend an information session and complete an interest form found on the Choice website. Click here for additional information.
