Fayetteville Police Department
Cumberland County Schools in collaboration with the Fayetteville Police Department is hosting a series of community events for parents and students in grades 6-12 to bring awareness to gun violence prevention in our community through the viewing of the film, The Crux. The Crux is a 35 minute film created by the Fayetteville Police Department that explores the various issues facing teens and their families. From sexting and gun violence to peer pressure and familial grief, the film takes a hard look at the choices we make in these situations and the effect those choices have on the future.
CCS Student Services is working to bring the two-hour interactive presentation led by a trained Educating Kids About Gun Violence (EKG) Team of police officers and detectives. The team uses the EKG curriculum and group discussion to educate students and families about the medical, legal, and emotional consequences of gun possession and the positive alternatives available.
Six EKG Events will be held throughout the county from November to March at locations below:

Students and parents may attend any session that is convenient for them. Events will be held in the school auditorium beginning at 6:00 pm. Doors will open at 5:30 pm with a vendor fair of local community agencies and resources for families to connect with.
