Hello parents, families, and friends of our awesome student Bruins! Allow me to be the first to welcome you to the Gray's Creek Middle School Media Center web page. Here, you will find information about the books in the Media Center, ebooks that are available to you 24/7, and some technology tips that can save you time and energy. We are committed to ensuring that students are exposed to learning about and understanding the latest research techniques and technology from an educational standpoint. Our Media Center is the HEART OF THE SCHOOL for information and technology. It is the place for students to experience the love of reading, where students are encouraged to explore the 9,000 plus books and reading materials within the catalog.
Media Center Policies
Media Center hours: 7:00 a.m. until 2:45 p.m. Students are allowed to check out up to two books at a time. Books are due three weeks from checkout and may be renewed if the student wants more time with the book. If books are not returned eight weeks after the due date will switch to “lost” and the student will be charged the full price of the book. If the book is returned, the fee will be removed. We do not charge late fees, with the exception of lost book fees. If a student has fees from other schools, they may still check out books from the GCMS media center. I want students to have access to books. If a student finds an old book from another school, please bring it in and I will make sure those fees are removed.
Battle of the Books
We are currently seeking students to participate in the Battle of the Books (BOB) competition to be held next March 2022. If you are interested in being on our BOB team, see Ms. Oxendine. For more information click the link in Quick Links.
To see what books are available for checkout in the GCMS library, use the link in Quick Links to access the catalog. Click on Gray's Creek Middle School, then click on the Catalog tab in the upper left-hand corner. In the search bar, you may search by topic, title, or author.
