ACMS 2020-2021 School Dress Code

  • Dress Code Policy 2020-2021

This policy will be in effect for the rest of this school year. Due to COVID-19 students may opt-out of our uniform policy but must adhere to the following guidelines while attending in-person learning at ACMS for the remainder of this academic school year.

    • Hats, caps, visors, bandannas, and sunglasses are not to be worn inside the school building. Staff members will confiscate unauthorized items.
    • Dresses, shirts, and blouses must cover three inches (3”) across the top of the shoulder. Spaghetti straps, strapless tops/halters, and plunging necklines are not allowed and the torso and cleavage must be covered at all times. Clothing is not to be sheer or see-through where the torso is revealed. At no time are undergarments to be visible.
    • Skirts, skorts, and dresses must be no higher than three inches (3”) above the top of the knee, and any slits in dresses and skirts must also adhere to this three-inch rule.
    • Shorts must be no higher than four inches (4”) above the top of the knee.
    • No sagging pants are allowed, meaning all pants must be worn with the waistband no lower than the hip bones.

    • Belts will be worn with slacks, shorts, and skirts that have belt loops. Large buckles, belts with studs, spikes, or metal rings are not permitted.
    • Leggings or yoga pants must be worn with a top that reaches mid-thigh.
    • Clothing and/or jewelry commonly recognized as being related to a group or gang, which provokes others to act violently or be intimidated by fear of violence, shall not be worn.

    • Clothing is not to be sheer or see-through where the torso is revealed. At no time are undergarments to be visible.
    • Heavy, large jewelry, belt buckles, and/or accessories (wallet chains) that are threatening, dangerous, distractive, disruptive or could be utilized as a weapon may not be worn.

    • Proper footwear is required at all times which is safe and does not result in a substantial disruption to the academic integrity of the school day. Shoes that have laces must fit, be laced, and tied. (i.e. no clogs, crocs, or sandals)
    • Crocs, slides, flip flops, pajamas, and bedroom shoes/slippers may not be worn.

    • No lockers will be available so bookbags must be secure enough to carry your CCS laptop and charger. Additional clothes for PE are not necessary at this time.

    • Students may bring a personal water bottle to use during the day.

Clothing must be age-appropriate and worn appropriately (belts must be buckled and worn at the hip bones). Clothing must not be disruptive to the teaching-learning environment, and cannot be provocative, revealing, indecent, vulgar, or obscene. Clothing will not be allowed which promotes alcoholic beverages, tobacco, or the use of controlled substances, depicts violence, or is of a sexual nature.
