  • Welcome to the Rockfish Elementary Media Center!

    Our media center is located in the center of our school and is the hub of activity!  The library is home to over 22,000 books, magazines, and teaching resources.  Cumberland County Schools is a 1:1 school system and each K-5 Rockfish student is provided a Chromebook for the school year.

    All K-5 students have weekly 40 minute library classes where we explore quality literature and learn about Sources of Information, Technology Tools, Informational Text, Research Process, and Safety and Ethical Issues.  Students also have time to check out books during their class period.  Students in grades 1-5 are required to check out both fiction and non-fiction books.  Books fall into one of four sections:  Early Fiction, Early Non-Fiction, Fiction, and Non-Fiction.  The spine of books that have AR quizzes available have a colored sticker to help differentiate between the various levels.

    We are here to help you succeed in school and life! OPEN CHECKOUT is M, T, W and TH  from 7:45-11:30 a.m. and in the afternoons from 12:30 - 2:00 p.m.  Students may keep books up to two weeks before they become overdue.  Please renew your book if you still need it. If a book becomes damaged, please return it to the library as soon as possible so we can put it in the “book hospital” for repair.  If it is wet, please do not close it. Stand it up and fan the pages out to dry.  All students should be testing in Accelerated Reader for all books they check out (AR tests can only be taken at school.)

    Lost or Damaged Power Cord for Chromebook - $25

    Keyboard Damage
    Markings/Stickers/Cosmetic Damages to Outside/Inside
    Damaged Screen
    Stolen Device (police report required – once incident only)
