Westarea Elementary has earned the Purple Star Award. The North Carolina Department of Public Instruction awards the Purple Star designation to schools that demonstrate military-friendly practices and a commitment to military students and families. Westarea Elementary is dedicated to providing the very best education possible for all its students, including students in military families. To that end, Westarea Elementary hosts annual military recognition events such as Month of the Military Child, Purple-Up! For Military Kids!, and the Veteran’s Day program.
