What is the Chinese Emerson Program
Through this program students will learn to understand, speak, read and write in Chinese as well as in English. Classroom instruction is taught by a teacher who is fluent in Chinese with the exception of resource classes in Art, Music, Media, Guidance, and Literacy. Children are encouraged in their speech to use Chinese vocabulary and expressions. Parents are advised to encourage reading in English at home. Students must begin the program in kindergarten and it carries through until fifth grade.
