Academy of Scholars

The Academy of Scholars prepares selected academically achieving seniors and juniors to compete successfully for valuable scholarships at accredited universities. Participants are selected based on class rank, grade point average, and leadership skills. AOS members attend monthly enrichment seminars on a variety of topics relating to college applications, selection, and success.

Students compete in speech and debate tournaments all across North Carolina and the United States. Students work together as a team to learn skills in public speaking, dramatic performance, and speech writing. Forensics believes in fostering student voices and encourages all students to use those voices for their passions.

The National Honor Society (NHS) is more than just an honor roll. The Honor Society chapter establishes rules for membership that are based on a student’s outstanding performance in the areas of scholarship, service, leadership, and character. The Student Government Association of CPHS serves as the liaison between the student body and the administration. Through the SGA, students may express their opinions and participate in the management of school enterprises. The student government representatives recognize this responsibility and work diligently to represent the student body. The SGA promotes leadership, initiative, and self-motivation among its members.
