All public schools in the state of North Carolina adhere to the curriculum standards outlined in the North Carolina Standard Course of Study, which is comprised of the Common Core State Standards for mathematics and literacy and Essential Standards for all other curriculum areas. The state’s Standard Course of Study defines the appropriate content standards for each grade level and each high school course to provide a uniform set of learning standards for every public school in North Carolina.

The goal of these research-based standards is to prepare all students to become career and college-ready. While the focal point of educational thought of the past was limited to success during the years of K-12 learning, the Common Core/Essential Standards mindset is targeted toward success well beyond the completion of high school or college. 2023-2024 High School Course Selection Guide

Our department is committed to providing quality instructional programs for our students so they can be successful in their academic pursuits. Our rigorous instructional programs at the middle school and high school levels are aligned to local, state, and national standards and offer preparation for career or post-secondary options upon graduation from high school. We are always seeking to improve our instructional programs by offering professional development in instructional strategies, continuous updates of educational trends, and resources that support teaching and learning. CCS TELECONFERENCING
CCS teleconferencing courses were established to offer students the opportunity to take Advanced Placement courses and unique electives that may not be offered within the schools they attend. Teleconferencing provides students with the opportunity to take coursework in a technology-rich environment while developing critical 21st-century skills.
