• WELCOME TO OUR SCHOOL: Douglas Byrd High School named after the late F. D. Byrd who served as the superintendent of the Cumberland County Schools is a comprehensive high school located in central Fayetteville. Douglas Byrd Senior High School has a rich history of excellence rooted in innovation and high expectations. In addition to providing a comprehensive curricular program, Byrd High School also contains specialized academies that include the Finance Academy and the Academy of Green Technology. Instructional leaders at Douglas Byrd place high expectations for all students and teachers while focusing on learning and teaching. There is also a focus on the school climate at Douglas Byrd High School to ensure the school safety. Community support and parent involvement in our school is welcome. Our principal, administrative team, faculty and staff, continue to make Douglas Byrd High School a great place where people want to be.

  • CCS to Reopen School Doors in January for Students, Staff

    Contingent upon positive COVID-19 metrics, Cumberland County Schools (CCS) will transition to Plan B (Blended-Remote and In-Person Learning) following a staggered entry approach beginning January 7, 2021, for traditional calendar schools and January 11, 2021, for year-round schools

  • CCS' SCHOOL RE-ENTRY PORTAL

    CCS elementary, middle school and central services staff will return on January 4, 2021, to assist with reopening preparations. Students will begin a staggered entry approach beginning on January 7, 2021, for traditional calendar schools and January 11, 2021, for year-round schools.

  • CCS Postpones EOC, CTE Testing

    The Cumberland County Board of Education’s Curriculum Committee, district officials announced plans to postpone high school testing. End-of-Course (EOC) and Career and Technical Education (CTE) testing at high schools in Cumberland County Schools (CCS) will now take place in 2021, following the winter break.
