Any student who currently resides in Cumberland County or who will reside in Cumberland County for the 2020-2021 school year is eligible to apply.
Can a student apply to more than one program?
Families can apply to more than one Choice Program based upon a student’s interest and goals.
How are students selected?
Student must meet eligibility requirements determined by each school. A randomized lottery is conducted to select students for programs in which there are more applicants than there are available seats.
Is transportation provided?
Parents must provide transportation to and from Choice Programs. There is limited transportation provided for some schools. You should contact the school to determine if transportation is available for your home address.
When are families notified?
Families will be notified of their child’s application status by February 28, 2020. Parents/guardians will login in to the Family Dashboard to accept or reject a seat at the Choice Program to which they plan to attend. Seats not accepted by the deadline will be released to students on the waiting list. Students placed on a waitlist will be notified if a seat becomes available after the notification deadline up to the 1st week of August.
Can students participate in athletics?
Students attending Reid Ross Classical Middle and Seventy-First Classical Middle cannot participate in athletics. Students attending Reid Ross Classical High, Massey Hill Classical, Cross Creek Early College, Cumberland International Early College, and Cumberland Polytechnic may participate in athletics at their home school. All other high school and middle school students can play sports at the school to which they have been accepted, as long as they follow the CCS Choice application process and meet athletic eligibility requirements.
