Cumberland Family Academy Announces Spring Events
Cumberland Family Academy is kicking off 2021 with a full schedule of events for Cumberland County Schools (CCS) families, covering topics from college planning to family health, support for military families and more.
The sessions will take place virtually at 6 p.m. on Thursdays, starting on Jan. 28 with “It’s Never Too Early -- Career Awareness 101.” Families can join the session, where they will be able to participate and ask questions. Additionally, CCS will post an encore of each session on the district’s YouTube channel and Facebook page by the following Tuesday.
“CCS launched Cumberland Family Academy in fall of 2020 to support families in our district, and we are dedicated to doing just that,” said Lindsay Whitley, associate superintendent for Communications and Community Engagement. “We know that students achieve more when families are involved in their education. Our sessions are designed to provide parents and caregivers with relevant and important information that can help them help their children succeed in the classroom and beyond.”
Cumberland Family Academy is part of priority four of the district’s strategic plan, which calls for the development of a district-wide family engagement outreach program. This initiative provides parents with additional tools to support their child’s education and brings schools, parents, caregivers and community organizations together as equal partners.
Due to COVID-19, all sessions will be facilitated remotely. A link to attend each family engagement session will be provided to registrants the day before each session.
