Cumberland County Schools' Public Relations Department provides strategic and proactive communication in a timely manner to our internal and external public to convey accurate district information and highlight CCS's image in the eyes of our stakeholders.

Cumberland County Schools' (CCS) Communications and Community Engagement Department has been honored with six prestigious Gold Blue Ribbon Awards from the North Carolina School Public Relations Association (NCSPRA) for outstanding and effective communications. NCSPRA presented the awards during a special ceremony held in High Point, NC on February 9.

CCS received awards in the following categories:

• Cumberland Strong: United for Student Success 2024 Joint Celebration - Special Events & Programs
• Our Family Ambassadors are United for Student Success - Special Events & Programs
• Committed CommUNITY Chats with Dr. Connelly - Special Events & Programs
• Cumberland Family Academy 2022-23 Speaker Series - Special Events & Programs
• United for Student Success: 2023 End-of-Year Report to the Community - Publications (Print & Electronic)

Dr. Lindsay Whitley, associate superintendent for Communications and Community Engagement, conveyed heartfelt gratitude for the team's accomplishment, stating, "I am deeply thankful to our team for their dedication and innovation in effectively communicating with our community. These awards underscore the vital role of school communications and community engagement in nurturing strong relationships and advancing student success."

NCSPRA recognizes outstanding communications through its Blue Ribbon Awards program each year. This year’s submission categories included: Marketing, Digital Media Engagement, Electronic Media, Excellence in Writing, Publications, Image/Graphic Design, Photography, and Special Projects and Events. The Georgia School Public Relations Association judged NCSPRA’s Blue Ribbon entries.
