We welcome you to the Cumberland County Schools (CCS).  Serving approximately 54,000 students, the CCS is the 4th largest district in North Carolina and the 79th largest district in the United States.  Nestled in the Sandhills of Eastern North Carolina, the CCS is a mix of urban, suburban, and rural schools that serve one of the most diverse populations in the country.  One important aspect of our district is that we are able to provide the resources of a large school district, while maintaining the personal approach to education that is traditionally found in smaller districts.

Recognized by educators as an innovative district, the CCS provides a complete educational experience for our students.  Through the Governed Choice program, a student can maximize his/her potential by pursuing a program that addresses his/her personal interests and learning style.  From International Baccalaureate to the arts, from language immersion to technology, the CCS offers a comprehensive curricula.

Rigorous course work, championship athletic teams, award winning arts programs, and comprehensive student organizations are all part of the life of a student in the CCS.  Graduates of the CCS successfully compete for highly competitive scholarships and admission into all major colleges and universities.

We invite you to take the time to explore our Website and visit our district.  Once you have, we feel confident that you will see why so many families are proud to call the CCS home.
