It
was a boy’s night out for students at College Lakes Elementary School. Third
through fifth grade boys invited their fathers, grandfathers, uncles, or male
mentors to bring them to this exciting event. After filling up
on foot long subs, the coach from Pine Forest High
School, Coach Sochovka gave an inspiring speech. He encouraged the students to
stay focused in school and work hard to maintain good grades. Coach also gave a
pep talk to the parents on the importance of family involvement.
Participants
were then divided into NFL teams to create a safe container for their “football
egg”. Groups were working feverishly to construct a device that would keep their
egg safe from a 6ft and then 10ft drop. Surprisingly, 6 teams out of 18 passed
both drops and moved into overtime which included an egg toss. The Steelers were
the Showdown winners this year.
